ON World History Web Application
ROLE: CREATIVE DIRECTOR
PROJECT TYPE: PRODUCT DESIGN, UX STRATEGY, DIGITAL LEARNING PLATFORM
As Creative Director, I led the design vision for ON World History—a web-based learning platform created in partnership with Gates Ventures to reimagine how world history is taught and experienced. The goal was to turn a dense, text-heavy curriculum into an engaging, interactive experience that made complex concepts intuitive and accessible for both educators and students.
The Brief
The challenge was scale and clarity: how do you translate the entire arc of human history—spanning from the Big Bang to modern civilization—into a digital experience that’s as usable as it is inspiring? The platform needed to serve two distinct audiences: educators building lesson plans and students learning through exploration.
Creative Approach & Direction
I partnered with UX, research, and development teams to establish a unified design system that balanced visual simplicity with rich interactivity. We designed a dual-mode interface optimized for both teacher and student use, featuring modular lessons, multimedia storytelling, and progress tracking.
The project extended beyond the classroom: we redesigned the marketing site to reflect the product’s new brand identity, streamline onboarding, and encourage adoption through a more intuitive and inspiring sign-up flow.
The Results
The resulting platform transformed how educators teach and how students connect with history—making centuries of content feel alive, relevant, and interactive. Adoption among schools increased significantly, and the modular system provided a flexible foundation for future curriculum expansion.
Through thoughtful design and storytelling, we turned a static textbook into a living experience—one that continues to help educators spark curiosity and critical thinking in classrooms around the world.
