Tokyo 2020 Olympics VR & Mobile App

ROLE: CREATIVE DIRECTOR
PROJECT TYPE: VR EXPERIENCE, MOBILE APP, IMMERSIVE UX

Intel partnered with our team to bring the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to life through a dual-platform digital experience—combining immersive VR with a dynamic companion app. As Creative Director, I led the vision, design, and user experience across both platforms, creating an interactive journey that allowed users to explore Olympic events, navigate Tokyo virtually, and experience the Games like never before.

The Brief

This project was about more than streaming sports—it was about transporting fans into the heart of Tokyo, bridging technology, culture, and athletics through immersive design. Intel wanted to showcase its TrueView technology while also enabling users to explore the city at their own pace. The challenge was twofold: design a rich VR environment that felt both cinematic and explorable, and create a companion mobile experience that was equally engaging and accessible to a broader audience.

Creative Direction & Approach

I led a cross-disciplinary team in designing a VR world that blended intuitive UX with bold, vibrant visual storytelling. Users could navigate Olympic venues, tune into live or on-demand events via Intel’s TrueView, and explore cultural landmarks throughout Tokyo—all from within a virtual environment. We collaborated with local experts to ensure historical accuracy and cultural respect in every environment we created.

On mobile, I translated the energy and interactivity of the VR experience into a scalable, real-time app. The design featured live video feeds, dynamic leaderboards, and event alerts—pulling users back into the action with contextual updates and gamified moments. Both platforms were built to feel unified, immersive, and dynamic.

The Result

The experience successfully showcased Intel’s innovation while deepening fan connection to the Tokyo Games. The VR experience pushed creative boundaries, blending real-time sports content with exploratory storytelling. The mobile app extended that impact to a global audience, demonstrating how Intel’s technology could redefine how fans interact with live events—on any screen, from anywhere.

Together, these platforms reflected a powerful convergence of design, technology, and cultural storytelling—delivered at Olympic scale.
