Intel + Turner Sports – NBA VR App

PROJECT TYPE: VR EXPERIENCE, SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, 3D ENVIRONMENT DESIGN

I led the concept and experience design for a VR app that reimagined how NBA fans engage with games. In partnership with Intel Sports and Turner, we built a dynamic, immersive platform that put fans in control—offering unprecedented access to highlights, replays, stats, and even virtual courtside seats through Intel’s True VR technology.

The Brief

Turner Sports wanted to push the boundaries of sports broadcasting and deliver something fundamentally new: a viewing experience built for depth, interactivity, and immersion. With Intel’s volumetric video tech as the backbone, our challenge was to design a virtual environment that not only showcased the technology, but truly enhanced how fans experienced the game.

Creative Direction & Approach

I led our team in designing an immersive 3D environment that served as both interface and destination. We recreated NBA on TNT’s Studio J as the entry point to the experience—transforming it into a virtual hub where fans could access game highlights, replays, and select live broadcasts in VR.

From there, fans could choose how to experience the game: courtside, from the rafters, or anywhere in between. We layered in interactive data, real-time scores, and contextual stats to make the world feel rich, responsive, and alive. The goal wasn’t just immersion—it was personalization, giving every fan the ability to experience the game on their terms.

I also collaborated with Intel’s platform team to ensure our design would scale across broadcast partners and future sports applications—laying the foundation for a flexible content delivery system powered by a custom-built CMS.

The Results

We delivered a visually striking, next-gen experience that showcased the power of Intel’s technology while creating a new kind of connection between fans and the game. The platform successfully launched across global markets, introducing a broader audience to the potential of VR sports experiences—and proving that the future of fandom is immersive, interactive, and entirely on the fans’ terms.
